Rapid breathing – For more powerful and efficient breathing mechanics

Schnellatmung – Für eine kraftvollere und effizientere Atemmechanik

Rapid breathing is a breathing technique in which you consciously breathe faster and more intensely than you normally would. It is often used in certain breathing practices such as Wim Hof training , pranayama or for physical activation . However, caution is advised, as uncontrolled rapid breathing (hyperventilation) can have undesirable effects.

Instructions

1. Fast, deep breaths (30-40 repetitions): Breathe in deeply through your nose or mouth until you fill your lungs (stomach and chest rise). Breathe out easily and without pressure, without completely emptying your lungs. Maintain a rhythmic, fast flow of breath.

Example rhythm:

  • Breathe in deeply: 1-2 seconds
  • Exhale gently: 1 second

...You can imagine "pulling" air into your stomach, chest and head .

2. Retention: After the last exhalation of the cycle, hold your breath for as long as possible (without forcing it). Stay calm and focused. Your body will feel relaxed.

3. Deep inhalation and hold (15 seconds): Breathe in deeply as soon as you feel the need to breathe. Hold your breath for 15 seconds and then let it flow out easily.

Repetitions: Perform this cycle 3-4 times , depending on your comfort level and goal.

effect of the exercise

1. Increased oxygen uptake:
The lungs are ventilated more effectively, which makes more oxygen available in the blood in the short term.

2. Carbon dioxide reduction:
CO₂ levels in the blood decrease, which increases the pH of the blood (alkalosis). This can create a feeling of energy and alertness.

3. Activation of the nervous system:
Rapid breathing stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, which increases the heart rate and puts the body into an “active” state.

4. Relaxation or trance states:
In controlled form, rapid breathing can be used to calm the mind or enter into meditative states.
